Jamaica’s Signature Feast of the Performing Arts – Poetry in Motion 2015, 12th annual staging on February 22nd, 2015, Jamaica

Jamaica’s Cultural and Literary and Performing Arts will take centre stage at Poetry in Motion, now celebrating its 12th annual staging on Sunday February 22nd, 6pm at Manchester Golf Club, Brumalia Road in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica.

The Poetry in Motion Family, or PiM Family as it is affectionately called, is particularly honoured and pleased to be responsible for the very highly anticipated annual Poetry in Motion which happens to be Jamaica’s Signature Edutainment and Poetry event and which has successfully and relentlessly presented Clean Intelligent Fun for the Entire Jamaican Family.

Caring and Sharing

February is celebrated as Black History Month Black History Month in Jamaica and Poetry in Motion will help us to reflect on our past as we celebrate our Black presence and create a prosperous Future of Caring and Sharing in ‘advancing the welfare of the entire human race’. Consistent with this focus, Poetry in Motion will present a monetary contribution to our designated annual charity, which for this year is, Gilbert and Georgia Allen Educational Trust.

12th Anniversary Special – Tribute to Teachers and Students

From it’s inception, Poetry in Motion has always been embraced by students and teachers across Jamaica and in particular in Central Jamaica. In recognition of this synergy, and in celebration of our 12th anniversary, we have acquired sponsorship from Jamaica National Building Society and Irie Life Anguilla to facilitate 48 teachers and students from 12 educational institutions from Clarendon, St Elizabeth and Manchester. These are: Belair High, De Carteret College, Bishop Gibson High, Manchester High, Mandeville Primary and Junior High, Spalding High, BB Coke Comprehensive High, Nothern Caribbean University, Church Teacher’s College, Bethlehem Moravian Teacher’s College, Catholic College of Mandeville and St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS).

What is heartening about this initiative is that it allows students and teachers to freely benefit from the entire spectrum of the creative and performing arts: Music, Dance, Comedy, Story Telling, Fashion and Poetry, for which they are so largely responsible.
